Tenuta Rapitalà Nero d’Avola 2021
The nose is immediately inviting with aromas of black cherry, eucalyptus, and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and smooth, with flavors of dried black cherry, cinnamon, and baking spice. The tannins are well-integrated and provide a pleasant structure to the wine. This wine is best enjoyed now or within the next few years.
Nose: Aromas of black cherry, plum, blackberry, licorice, tobacco, and spice. Chocolate, coffee and leather round out the nose.
Palate: Full-bodied with ripe fruit flavors and moderate tannins. Touches of tobacco and licorice.
Finish: Long and lingering. Black fruit, spice, and tannins.
Pairing
Grilled meats: Nero d'Avola is a great wine to pair with grilled meats, such as steak, lamb, or pork. The tannins in the wine help to cut through the fat of the
meat, while the fruit flavors complement the grilled flavors.
Pasta dishes: Nero d'Avola can also be paired with pasta dishes, especially those made with tomato sauce. The fruit flavors in the wine complement the tomato sauce, while the tannins help to balance the acidity of the sauce.
Hearty stews: Nero d'Avola is a good choice for pairing with hearty stews, such as beef stew or lamb stew. The tannins in the wine help to cut through the richness of the stew, while the fruit flavors complement the meat and vegetables.
Spicy foods: Nero d'Avola can also be paired with spicy foods, such as Indian food or Thai food. The tannins in the wine help to tame the heat of the spices, while the fruit flavors complement the flavors of the food.

Other Notes
Alto is sourced from a single high altitude vineyard on a 12 acre parcel of Rapitalà’s 500+ acres estate. The vineyard lies between at a high elevation of 1,300 to 1,700 feet and is planted to 10 year old cordon-spur trained Nero d’Avola vines. The terrain is dry and steep forcing the vines to dig deep into the barren soil. This high-altitude location sees significant diurnal changes in temperature, allowing for greater aromatic complexity and the development of a strong acidic backbone in the final wine.
Nero d’Avola gives this wine a red passion color, hints of ripe fruit and an intense and harmonious taste. Immediate and direct but not trivial, it differs in the altitude at which its grapes are grown, which allows for a fresher wine, with delicate tannins and easy to drink style.
