a soft, engaging nose and gentle palate – the hallmark of quality wheat and maize, distilled correctly, aged well. The barrel from Loch Lomond Distillery offers lively blackberry and lemon highlights. The backbone is provided by a barrel distilled in 2000 at North British Distillery, which imprints distinctive vanilla and oak characteristics. An intriguing barrel of thirty-year-old Whisky from Carsebridge Distillery (long since closed) adds the depth of long aging, with notes of toffee and cream. The resulting blend is very subtle with a fresh profile best described as “white linen.” Finally, THE EXCEPTIONAL GRAIN is married in first-fill Sherry casks, imparting a whisper of sweet and dry on the finish.
