The Glenfiddich Solera system is unique amongst Scotch whisky distillers. Fifteen-year-old Glenfiddich from three types of casks - traditional American bourbon, Spanish sherry and new oak - is married in a large Solera vat, made of Oregon pine. The vat is always kept at least half full, ensuring a consistent quality of whisky is maintained whenever it is topped up. Then this beautifully balanced single malt is left to settle in a small Solera tun before bottling.
A full and fruity nose, with delicate honey and vanilla notes. The taste is elegantly smooth, with a deep flavour that reveals fruit, gentle spice and a touch of oak. The finish is long and satisfying.
Our 15 Year Old expression is a truly special single malt that exemplifies our family’s tradition of innovation. Its warm, spicy flavours are created using a technique pioneered by our fourth Malt Master, David Stewart, and continued to this day.
Aged in European, American, and New American oak to carefully release the virgin cask flavours, the whisky is then mellowed in our unique Solera vat before being married in Portuguese oak tuns.
Bursting with flavour, the first 15 Year Old to enter the top ten best selling single malts in the world is a personal favourite of many of us here at the Distillery, and once you’ve tried it, it’s easy to see why.
COLOR: Golden, a red hue.
NOSE: An intriguingly complex aroma. Sweet heather honey and vanilla fudge combined with rich dark fruits.
TASTE: Silky smooth, revealing layers of sherry oak, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger. Full-bodied and bursting with flavour.
FINISH: Satisfyingly rich with lingering sweetness.
Look for rich, rounded flavors with lots of honey, vanilla and baking spice notes. The palate is creamy, with a mouth-filling texture and smoky finish.
