What strikes me about the opening aroma is the balance between the alcohol, the oak, and the grain, which all seem to be pulling the wagon in harmony; it isn't until aeration unleashes the spirit that I detect the feistiness of the 100 proof alcohol, but fortunately that doesn't overshadow the leathery, mildy sweet breakfast cereal, honeyed graininess. The splendor of the bouquet is confirmed in the entry as warm, smoldering flavors of light caramel, nougat/almond paste, and oaky vanillin impress the daylights out of my 10,000 taste buds; the midplate stage features toasted cereal, toasted rye bread, popcorn, and fresh honey right out of the hive. Aftertaste is of chocolate covered walnuts and the ever-present honey. A masterpiece of seamless integration, bourbon profundity, and grace. If ever someone says to you that Americans can't make great whiskey, introduce them to this golden nugget.''
