In 1970 two brothers-in-laws decided to make their own beer in their own brewery. With only five thousand dollars they started off what fans call a ''Chouffe story'' From 1982 to 1984 the brewery was more of hobby than a business, but until March of 1984 one of the brothers in laws Pierre dropped his job as a production manger in an ice-cream factory and devoted all his hard work and time into the brewery. In 1988 Chris the other brother in law committed himself full time to the brewery.That same year La Chouffe started exporting the productions over to North America.
